Rotorua is New Zealand’s tourism capital and during its 20-year history, Zanellis has built up an enviable reputation of providing one of the greatest dining experiences in this multi-cultural city.
Your hostess Adrienne Rehiouih works alongside her chefs in the drive to produce not only authentic Italian dishes, but actively creating them from scratch..
This includes making our own distinctive olive oils and tapenades, right through to what’s regarded as the best homemade gnocchi in New Zealand (always on special!). And let’s not forget the biscotti or the genuine tiramisu, with its soothing textures of marscapone, cream cheese, brandy and cream or Marsala for an absolute melt in your mouth experience. Even the distinctive gelato is made by hand.
It’s this drive to create the best fresh daily, says Adrienne, that sees people from all over the world come back time and again to the romantic setting that Zanellis provides.
The chefs of Zanellis all have extensive training overseas and the Head Chef is Mediterranean born and raised, understanding like no others the distinctive regional textures and flavours of traditional Italian cooking.
Zanellis is intrinsically an intimate restaurant, seating no more than 60 people at any time, which means that bookings are essential during the busy season and certainly preferred at all other times. The restaurant can be booked for private functions and enquiries can be made here.
Zanellis is designed to look like an Italian courtyard, with typical Mediterranean windows to one’s home on one side looking in and the fields of grape vines on the other.
It’s warmly welcoming, it’s romantic and it provides the perfect setting for an unforgettable dining experience.
Zanellis is open from Tuesday to Saturday, excepting public holidays and is also open on Sundays prior to a public holiday from 5.30pm till late.
